NAGWA ASSAD
In her youth Nagwa Assad’s spiritual guidance came from the late His
Holiness Komos Timosous Mahrous in the city of Qena in
Lower Egypt.
After she received her high
school certificate she went to Alexandria University in Alexandria under the
guidance of the late Komos Bishoy
Kamel. She was
assigned to look after the orphanage and was there day and night as it also
became her residence. She took care of only three children at the beginning.
But they were a handful as they were rough and treated her badly. But with her
determination to teach the true Christian values within two weeks the kids
started to say the words “its my mistake” when they
do something wrong or “forgive me” or “God forgive you” etc. Within the end of the year the orphanage was
taking care of 40 children both boys and girls.
When she was 29 years old she
contracted a severe incurable disease.
This disease immobilized her and had to use a wheelchair. Through all of this suffering she never lost
her peacefulness, she never lost her smile and never stopped her service to the
church and the people. She continued
doing confidential service like helping poor brides financially to prepare for
their wedding and she was always looking for orphans and the needy to help. She was always looking through friends and
her contacts work for people who needed to work. She also contributed to prepare other girls
to carry on her service for the poor and the orphans. Normally when visiting a cripple, people pray
for that person but when they visit her even the priest would ask for her
prayers because anyone who saw her felt the spirituality and peacefulness in
her presence. When she passed away her
smile was even wider and brighter
Dear reader,
The life of Nagwa is a powerful statement and example of someone who
carries her or his cross with faith and resignation. Remember she went to God smiling.
Remember me in
your prayers
